"Delivering Today, Defining Tomorrow" is shorthand for HomePlug momentum with the heavy deployment of HomePlug's industry leading powerline technology and the emergence of a growing ecosystem of solutions all interoperable with the newly ratified IEEE 1901 global standard. To date, more than 50 million HomePlug chipsets have been shipped; that number is rapidly increasing as four HomePlug-certified silicon vendors ramp to meet growing demand. Many leading service providers depend on HomePlug technology to satisfy customer requirements for the reliable distribution of triple play and multiple-stream HD video services around the home.
We're seeing great interest in the HomePlug GreenPHY specification (just published in June) as utilities and related energy equipment manufacturers race toward Smart Energy and Smart Grid infrastructure in Europe, Asia/PAC and the Americas. Most exciting is the development of the HomePlug AV2 next generation broadband solution with 5x improvement in performance. AV2 and GreenPHY further extend the HomePlug technology ecosystem and are interoperable with the IEEE's new global 1901 powerline standard.
HomePlug is the real powerline solution – widely adopted, carrier-proven, serving now and well positioned with a compelling roadmap to take wired home networking into an interoperable powerline future. Truly, HomePlug is delivering today and defining tomorrow.
The HomePlug Powerline Alliance will have an exhibit on the floor of
Broadband World Forum (Stand C29) and present information about its
industry-leading powerline technology, selected as a baseline technology
for the IEEE's 1901 global standard. A live demonstration of multi-room HD
video streaming can be seen as well as new HomePlug-based powerline
products from leading brands.
The Alliance also hosts a Wednesday evening reception
(Oct. 27, 6-9:00pm) where invited attendees can mingle with HomePlug members and hear about new developments in technologies and standards. Attendees will be able to drive a full-immersion Formula 1 simulator around a Grand Prix circuit to test their skills and experience interactive, networked HD gaming using HomePlug's own powerline technology. The gaming event, hosted by member Atheros Communications, will feature various 5-lap races and race winners will win prizes.
The event venue is the Hilton Hotel, 5th Floor, Rome 1&2 Meeting Rooms.

The HomePlug Powerline Alliance will be front and center in South Hall with an updated exhibit featuring kiosks of member companies new products and technologies. We retained our excellent position at the very front of the lower level of South Hall out available kiosks as we did last year. Member companies who wish to secure a kiosk should immediately contact the MWG to reserve a space!
HomePlug 2nd Annual "Plugfest"
The HomePlug® Powerline Alliance's 2nd Annual Silicon Vendor Plugfest (September 14-17) took place in Tours, France. Atheros Communications, Gigle Networks and SPiDCOM Technologies participated in the event to test for interoperability and compliance to the HomePlug AV specification, including compliance with the new IEEE 1901 powerline networking standard. There are now four HomePlug certified silicon vendors: Atheros, Gigle, Sigma and SPiDCOM.
